2009 VIPS Golden Apple Award

The Baton Rouge Chapter of the Links, Inc. wins the 2009 Golden Apple Award from Volunteers in Public School (VIPS) for our work at Capitol Elementary School.

In October 2007, Baton Rouge Chapter-The Links, Incorporated entered into partnership with Eden Park Elementary School and has since followed Eden Park students to Capitol Elementary this 2008-09 school year.  The Chapter services the Youth and has committed to focusing on providing a range of innovative, substantive, and sustainable programming to support student achievement for the learners of Capitol Elementary.

The Baton Rouge Chapter of the Links has provided their assistance to the families of Capitol Elementary with the following activities during the current academic year: Rose Buds, Family Literacy Night, Body Walk, Brotherhood/Sisterhood, Read Across America, and 2008-09 Spelling Bee.  The Capitol Elementary community of students, parents, faculty and staff look forward to the continued partnership that will show a positive impact on the children we serve.
