Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

The Baton Rouge Chapter participated in the 2009 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and sponsored a water station at this great event.  Almost 10,000 participants came out to support and raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure which will be used for breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs in our region, with an emphasis on underserved groups and areas.

2009 VIPS Golden Apple Award

lh-vips09The Baton Rouge Chapter of the Links, Inc. wins the 2009 Golden Apple Award from Volunteers in Public School (VIPS) for our work at Capitol Elementary School.

In October 2007, Baton Rouge Chapter-The Links, Incorporated entered into partnership with Eden Park Elementary School and has since followed Eden Park students to Capitol Elementary this 2008-09 school year.  The Chapter services the Youth and has committed to focusing on providing a range of innovative, substantive, and sustainable programming to support student achievement for the learners of Capitol Elementary.

Terrie Sterling Named Influential Woman in Business

lh-terrie-wibCongratulations to our member, Terrie Sterling, 2009 Influential Woman in Business. As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Terrie is the first woman and first black to serve as an executive in OLOL's 76-year history. But another accolade means more to her than all the others: the first nurse to serve as chief operating officer.

Chapter Wins 2nd Place in Umbrella Programming

The Baton Rouge Chapter won 2nd place for the Umbrella Programming facet at the 2009 Southern Area Conference in Jacksonville, Florida.  The award was in recognition of the chapter's development, sponsorship, and participation in the Expanding the Vision Conference.
